theoldgit wrote:hello ali nice to hear from you again",if its not a staff it must be a pit."....what a crock of sh*t!!! with no papers of any kind and no info of breeding from the seller i can only assume we are looking at a scatter bred mutt,NOW BEFORE YOU SHOUT i do not think from the bottom of my heart that this would make the pup a lesser dog some of the best all rounders have come about this way, better to see a healthy outcross [although with out crossing more care and thought should be used]than the mutated creatures that "meet conformation" the best advice that i feel i can offer you is to enjoy your dog ,training and conditioning must come before all else with any breed,as for no such thing as an irish staff, how about a staff bred in ireland...lol,all the best john

Hey thanks for the reply :) His mum was a tall staffy and his dad was really short but i think he's got a bit of english bull terrier in him i googled it and some came up with similar marking n height :) His parents were both really staffy looking but ovb it can go back to what ever is in his lines :) Dont worry i love him to pieces papers meen nothing :) hes ma wee baby lol xx :spam:

just as a matter of interest dog fighting[pitting]banned in the uk 1835.............1935 KC decide to recognise the breed........working on this simple maths by 2111 maybe the irish staff may well exist in the eyes of the KC,for now i prefer the leggy better looking dog[imo]even if it does not exist :lolbonk: :lolbonk: :lolbonk: :lolbonk: :lolbonk:
Thanks good comment! x :walkies:

Diamond Kartel wrote:My Diamond is a bigger than average staff at 18 months he's 19 inches and has been for about 8months. His dad was 22 and his mum was standard 18 so it all depends on the sizes of Chances parents. Diamond has the ears up like his Grandma and I have seen others with their ears up. So as The OG says enjoy your dog. It don't matter what he is he is still a stunner :))
Hey thanks :) His mum was really tall and dad short so i think that hes taking his height from his mummy :) he has her ears too lol we call him batty lol !! its pure character a couldn't imagine him without them now lol !! Thanks for sayin hes a stunner :D Well proud :) Your dogs are beautiful aswell :P xxxx :nanas2:

G2000 wrote:My girls on the taller side, so that's good by me too... :))

It's a common debate on another forum I'm on. In my mind the shorter they are, the less agile they theoretically become, which goes against the 'purpose' of the breed. But having said that it's about the whole proportion of the dog too I suppose...?
Totally agree .. Smaller staffys some times look too short and to heavy for there wee legs to handle the weight.. I like stocky staffys aswell.. But then again i actual like every dog going lol !! xxx

Wasn't sure people took my questioning re papers, and mention of his ears the wrong way? Only asked about papers to see if they stated a stafford, and my first girl was exactly the same and I love(d) her to pieces, wouldn't have changed a single thing. So please don't think I was being derogatory. ;)

both look like nice dogs and if your happy with them dont matter what they r or what others think

staffords were bred for a purpose and im sure height ears etc didnt come into it they were looking for a well balanced game dog to do the job

theyve been called irish old tyme athletic staffs but most just call them staffs on account of the authorities and media just take all these names as cover names for pitbulls

ps i like the ears looks like our dog honour
