He looks so good! What age can you start like the pulling I'm guessing 1-2 years? Are all dogs the bull breed?

7 of them are 1 is a Whippet Lurcher, well Bullseye 3 when he started, but you can start getting them used to a harness with a very light weight behind them almost nothing at all at about six months, once they are a year you can up the weight..

The only places I can recommend for weight pulling are the UPF & my place, although my place I'm only doing training at the moment, the UPF have competitions every month & training every Saturday with a small fee, they are in Sheffield.

Link to the UPF site:
http://upfweightpull.webs.com/

I do training every 2 weeks in Norfolk which is free, we also have other activities such as hang time, a frame & lure...

If lure racing & Long Jump is more your thing there is also a club in Sussex called The Athletic Canine Enthusiasts Society (ACES)

Here is there site:

Have you got a weight pull harness yet?

Or any videos on how it's done?

Well my mother makes harnesses, collars & leads

viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1942#p12975

And my Dad makes sleds :))

I know what you are saying about the traveling bit, it can be a pain in the back side, we used to go to ACES every month, we used to go Ireland a lot too...

As for training for weight pulling I would start her off with just normal walks in the harness with nothing hooked onto it, once you are happy that she is used to the harness attach a very light weight such as an empty milk carton again once she is use to that put some stones in the carton, this will get her used to the noise that the pulling equipment is likely to make, you can add very light weights but not too much until she is at least a year old..

Once she is a year old you can take it up a level, by either using a sled or a car tyre, I would keep sessions to once every other day & up the weight in 5lb increments every week & never use toys or any kind of lure to coax forward, this will only teach bad habits like jumping & snapping, use plenty of praise, take your time & keep it fun, if you are unsure of anything, just ring me, my number is on the harness page.. :)

Hope this helps.
