weight pull harness

Fancy trying my lad at weight pull so need a harness i mainley run him so i dont want lots of heavy mass muscle so my plan is a light weight say 5kg over long distance and up hills. What muscles will it work etc never done weight pull so any advise is good

Well it will make him a faster runner because it builds up new muscle groups, you know that runners do weight lifting exercises, when getting fit.....

I noticed that it made Bullseye a faster runner when I started pulling with him :)

So my idea of light weight but long distance is ok im not going to be compeating in wp just an another conditioning tool as such can i use a normal harness or would a proper weight pull be better he wont be pulling more than 8kg was thinking of using truck chains or my cast iron weights

Well I would use a harness with a spreader bar mate, to be honest, because the weight will all be pulled from the dog's back, whereby a wp harness the weight is a good distance from the dog, like a tow bar on a car is the best way I can explain, you would fit a tow bar to the roof of a car and then try to tow with it, because it wouldn't work and it would likely f*ck your car up too lol

Just my theory is all :)

But yeah drag pulling is great exercise, good way to build stamina too :)

How much would a weight pull harness be then i dont want an all singing job just one for a little use

They are £35 inc p&p mate, regardless of colour :)
